Double delight for Rossouw

FNB Maties coach Chris Rossouw had two major reasons to be in a celebratory mood on Monday night.

His Maties team beat FNB UCT 37-15 after trailing 15-13 just after half-time at the Green Mile, turning on the class to score three tries in a second half blitz. The other reason was that he became a father for the third time on Monday morning!
His wife gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl early on Monday and this certainly boded well for the match later in the day. Chris now has three daughters and you would be hard pressed to find a prouder husband and father. His players told him that he has to make sure the next child is a boy for the sake of South African rugby!
Maties were tested by a fiery UCT side and this was a great test of the team's resolve. The Ikeys never stopped running and a late intercept try by reserve winger JP Lewis inflated the scoreline.
The difference was that the Maties used their scoring chances, and also kept their cool on defence, which has been a key factor in their season so far. This victory extended the Maties' Varsity Cup winning streak over the Ikeys to seven matches, and also means the Maties have never lost to the Ikeys on the Green Mile.
The Maties travel to Johannesburg to face FNB Wits next week and know that a victory will guarantee them the top spot on the log with a game in hand.
Rossouw will certainly use this game to rest some of his frontline players and also reward some of the reserves for their performances over the last few weeks.
