FNB UKZN did the near impossible and went to Alice and beat the FNB Fort Hare Blues by 20-18 on Monday night.

The team from Kwa-Zulu Natal showed incredible guts after they went behind as early as the third minute of the game when Fort Hare fullback Khanyiso Komani went over for the first try.
This did not phase the Impi as they started fighting back and inside-centre Heinrich Meyer kicked a penalty to make the score 5-2 after 12 minutes of play.
UKZN hit a telling blow just before the break when they scored through prop Sizwer Khubeka and it was converted by Meyer which meant that UKZN went into the lead 10-5 at half-time.
The Impi came out firing in the second-half and managed to score first which meant that they went into a commanding 15-5 lead after 45 minutes.
As Fort Hare have proven throughout the season, they would not lie down and scored two tries in the 54th and 72nd minutes both through reserve loose-forward Nkosikhone Nofuma.
A pity for the side from Alice was that the ever-reliable Khanyiso Komani couldn't find his direction off the kicking tee and could only manage one conversion from three attempts.
It was a nerve-wracking last couple of minutes for UKZN but they managed to holdout and take a hugely morale-boosting win away from Alice and move into second place on the log.
