UJ's Koshuis action heating up

Monday, May 16 saw a lot of tries being scored in UJ's Steinhoff Koshuisrugby fixtures - resulting in some interesting scores and a few upsets along the way.

Steinhoff Afslaan managed to put away eight tries against Steinhoff Oppierif, to seal a 46-11 victory in a game that was sure to show some consistent action.

Steinhoff DFC took on league leaders Steinhoff Bastion (who played in the 2011 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships for UJ), but were unable to make a big enough dent in their defense and only went over the opposition's tryline once, leaving Bastion to hit back with four tries and seal a 24-7 win against the formidable opponents.

An exciting match between Steinhoff Dromedaris and Steinhoff Majuba was ignited with tries from either side, unfortunately for Majuba, Dromedaris were able to assert their dominance and run in another four tries to finalise a 27-7 win.

There was also some great action playing out within the second league, which saw Steinhoff Dromedaris' second team fall victim to Soweto, who managed to keep their opponents scoreless until the final whistle.

Steinhoff Kanniedood and Steinhoff Vorendag couldn't breach one another's defence but exchanged penalties which gave Kanniedood a 9-3 win.

Steinhoff Chiros and Steinhoff Bastion (like Drom, their second team) then finished off the evening with the current second log leaders, Steinhoff Chiros, holding out a two-try lead to finish the game 12-6 victors.

Results as they happened on Monday, May 16:
Afslaan 46 Oppierif 11
DFC 7 Bastion 24
Dromedaris 27 Majuba 7
Dromedaris (2nd XV) 0 Soweto 28
