Miss Varsity Cup 2017
Miss Varsity Cup has become part and parcel of the off-field entertainment that makes Varsity Cup such a huge success story. Students have taken ownership of this entertaining and colourful competition, showing that beauty can mix with the ruggedness of rugby. Each of the Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield universities will determine their own winner, and all winners will be taken to the final of the Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield competitions respectively, where the official Miss Varsity Cup 2017 winner will be unveiled.
Miss Varsity Cup and Miss Varsity Shield finalists will be interviewed at selected games. The finalists will also be involved with the “Keep the Aggro on the Field” campaign by visiting the shelters chosen by each university throughout her reign.
“This experience led to the self-realisation of my potential, which was mainly realised by the support I had from people who were not only family and friends, but also the Stellenbosch campus community,” said 2016 Miss Varsity Cup, Joy Mashego. “In addition, the lessons and wise words I have learnt from the people I have met during my Miss Varsity Cup journey and most importantly, knowing that I have made a positive difference in the community as I am very passionate about community service, is the most important thing I’ll take away from this experience.”
Joy Mashego was awarded R2000 and will be the reigning Miss Varsity Cup until a new winner is crowned in 2017.
