Miss Varsity Shield 2017
Miss Varsity Shield has become part and parcel of the off-field entertainment that makes Varsity Cup such a huge success story. Students have taken ownership of this entertaining and colourful competition, showing that beauty can mix with the ruggedness of rugby. Each of the Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield universities will determine their own winner, and all winners will be taken to the final of the Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield competitions respectively, where the official Miss Varsity Shield 2017 winner will be unveiled.
Miss Varsity Cup and Miss Varsity Shield finalists will be interviewed at selected games. The finalists will also be involved with the “Keep the Aggro on the Field” campaign by visiting the shelters chosen by each university throughout her reign.
At the 2016 Varsity Shield Final, Miss UKZN, Angel Phindile Ndimande was announced as Miss Varsity Shield for 2016.
Miss Varsity Shield are proud for Angel Ndimande to be wearing the Miss Varsity Shield crown for the next year, while she participates in various community projects and causes, raising awareness for Rape survivors and against woman abuse. Angel will wear the crown until Miss Varsity Shield 2017 is announced.
