The FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International caught up with Henco Posthumus who made his debut at flyhalf for the FNB Shimlas against FNB Tuks.
Henco Posthumus made his debut in the Varsity Cup last week Monday against FNB Tuks after being called up for duty from his Steinhoff Vishuis team. Posthumus is the captain of the Steinhoff Vishuis team at the University of the Free State and is proud to be part of the team who won the Steinhoff Koshuis Championshiplast year.
Posthumus is not only a talented rugby player but also a leader. He was the Primaria of Vishuis in 2016, which is why they call him ‘Generaal’. He is also known as ‘Hencoskopniemis’, taken from his surname and his kicking ability. The ‘Generaal’ is currently a fifth-year Architectural student at the University of the Free State.
“It is an honour and privilege to play for the FNB Shimlas,” said a humble Posthumus. “To wear the Shimlas jersey is definitely the highest achievement so far in my rugby career.”
Once again the Steinhoff Koshuis Championship has produced an opportunity for a player to play in the Varsity Cup.
“I am extremely grateful for the exposure and opportunity to play on this level in the Varsity Cup, while still enjoying my rugby. I am looking forward to play more games in the Shimlas jersey,” Posthumus said.
Varsity Cup supporters watch out for the ‘Generaal’.
