Steinhoff Elsenburg have had a good start to their 2017 Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Championship and after four rounds of Sauer competition they are leading the race to the tile. On Monday afternoon they smashed Steinhoff Simonsberg by 54 points to 7 to claim a vital bonus-point victory that saw them climb to the top of the log. Steinhoff Dagbreek also had a big win over Steinhoff Majuba. Paul Streicher proved clinical in the backline as Steinhoff Dagbreek ran away with the match, 55-7.

Steinhoff Eendrag overcame a strong Steinhoff Huis Marais side in a very tight match to win 13-12, a win that could prove important for the rest of the season. Rian Wolfaardt stood out for Steinhoff PSO Barbarians as they beat Steinhoff Medies 27-24 in a nail biting encounter.

Steinhoff Helshoogte got their campaign back on track with a 21-8 win over defending champions, Steinhoff Helderberg, while Steinhoff Huis Visser’s good start to the season continued when they saw off Steinhoff Wilgenhof in a strong 33-12 victory.

In what is a busy week of Steinhoff Koshuis rugby at Maties, where teams are making up for lost matches due rained out fixtures last semester, a few koshuis teams will clash for their annual derby. Firstly, the battle for a place in the playoffs will light up when Steinhoff Huis Visser meet with Steinhoff Huis Marais and the second derby of the day between Steinhoff Dagbreek and Steinhoff Wilgenhof will also promise a few fireworks, although Steinhoff Wilgenhof haven’t started the season the way they wanted.

Steinhoff PSO Barbarians will hope to get a victory over Steinhoff Simonsberg on Wednesday when they meet in what has also been a poor season so far for the men from the Whitehouse. Defending champions Steinhoff Helderberg and Steinhoff Majuba will clash and both sides will be looking for a valuable to spark their campaign, while Steinhoff Helshoogte have a good chance of moving into the top four, should they beat Steinhoff Medies.

In arguably the match of the day, table-topping Steinhoff Elsenburg will go head to head with Steinhoff Eendrag in what promises to be a big encounter for both sides.
