Three exchange students from Europe joined the CUT Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby league recently.

Simon Lerach, Max Schuetz (both from Germany) and Gilles Coetsier (Belguim) are students in Management Sciences at the CUT and are on campus at least until January 2017.

“We do not have a lot of experience in rugby, although we find the game fascinating and exciting,” Shuetz said.

“I am an avid player of handball in Germany, and we are all quite into sport. The eagerness and total commitment of your rugby players is a joy to experience, and we love sharing this love of sport with your players,” he added.

The threesome have joined the Steinhoff Lions team from the Faculty of Health & Environmental Sciences.

Steinhoff Lions coach, Mr Michael Steyn, was happy to welcome the three into his pride of lions.

“We’ll make Lions of them yet,” Steyn said, winking.

Apart from running with the rugby ball clung to the chest, the three European visitors also enjoy the South African lifestyle, braaivleis and cultural diversity in Bloem.

“We absolutely love being here,” they all agree.
