The teams started the game on equal footing, looking for the chance to get a foothold in the game, but it was the FNB Ikey Tigers Young Guns who showed early signs of scoring, with Esona’s bursting run down the line coming to an end just short of the tryline because of a last ditch tackle from the FNB Madibaz Young Guns defence.

It was soon after that Petyt crossed the line for the home side, with Edward Bester converting. The FNB Madibaz Young Guns tried to work their way back into the match, but handling errors in critical areas of the field cost them dearly. Janse Roux went to the sinbin for the visitors, followed by Posen from the FNB Ikeys Young Guns. During this time, Isaacs got on the scoreboard for the FNB Madibaz Young Guns, before Jason Hofmeyr scored following a maul to give the FNB Ikeys Young Guns a 16-2 lead at the break.

The second half started with the home side scoring early on, before the FNB Madibaz Young Guns crossed the whitewash for the first time in the game when Scott powered down the line.

Hoyfmeyr then scored his second of the game after the strategy break, increasing their lead to nineteen points. As the clock ticked on, the visitors upped the ante and pinned the FNB Ikeys Young Guns back against their own tryline. Persistence paid off, as Daniel Voigt found his way through the defence late on in the game. Isaacs then converted with the last kick of the game; the FNB Ikey Tigers Young Guns winning 26-15.
