The FNB Maties Young Guns side clinched top spot of the 2017 Young Guns competition after beating FNB UJ 50-30 at the Danie Craven Stadium on Monday afternoon.
FNB Maties Young Guns flew out of the blocks with three tries within the first 20 minutes, but FNB UJ Young Guns fought back as FNB Maties led 29-15 at half time. FNB UJ continued where they left off at the start of the second half, scoring three tries in 15 minutes to give them a one-point lead, heading into the final 20 minutes of the match.
FNB Maties got their act together and took the game away from FNB UJ, eventually finishing with a 50-30 victory.
