The FNB Rhodes team have had a relatively bleak run in the Varsity Shield competition so far, but are feeling positive about their next match against FNB WSU. FNB WSU sit fifth on the log in comparison to FNB Rhodes, who are at the bottom.

Coach Qondakele Sompondo says that, “We think it will be a very tough game as both UKZN and us are in a very tough situation of trying to avoid being at the basement of the log.”

FNB Rhodes have been struggling as the newbies in the tournament but are hopeful to record at least two wins before it is over.

Captain Jono Braans admitted that, “Obviously results have gone against us lately but the boys are really getting themselves geared up for this one.”

After losing all their matches so far, Braans is adamant that “the boys will come out firing”.

The game kicks off at 18:30 on Monday 13 March on the Rhodes University Great Field.
