The two teams met at on a sunny day at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg in a thrilling encounter that ended 37-31 in favour of FNB Shimlas

It was a tight match from the start and the early lead by FNB Pukke put pressure on the FNB Shimlas, which forced them to step up their game early on in the match. Fifteen minutes into the first half the match had already proved to be a tough battle with a number of hard tackles all over the field.

The score was still 8-0 to FNB Pukke when the strategy break commenced. Upon return from the strategy break, FNB Pukke extended their lead to 16-0. FNB Shimlas struck back to shorten FNB Pukke’s lead, but at half time the FNB Pukke led 24-5.

But FNB Shimlas staged an incredible fight back, pulling into the lead after a flurry of tries left them 25-24 ahead. Brilliant play by Garann Kriek saw FNB Pukke steal it back at 29-25. This was quickly followed by a surge of confidence that pushed the FNB Shimlas side to take the lead for the second time in the match.

It was a tight match that ultimately ended with a score of 37-31 to the FNB Shimlas, who completed their incredible comeback to score full points at the Rand Stadium on Monday afternoon.
