Head coach of the FNB UP-Tuks Young Guns, Dewey Swartbooi, has named a match day squad littered with former schoolboy talent ahead of their season opener against FNB Wits Young Guns in Johannesburg next Monday.

Scrumhalf Emprose Papier and flank Vic Meyer [son of former Springbok coach, Heyneke Meyer] headline the team while former SA Schools no.8 Khwezi Mafu has been named on the bench. Speaking ahead of their clash against FNB Wits, hooker and captain, Johan Grobbelaar, stated that his charges are excited for their hit out against their Johannesburg rivals after a long preseason.

“We have worked hard during the preseason so all the boys are excited to get out and implement what we have been doing on the training field,” said Grobbelaar. “In terms of Wits, we are just going to focus on ourselves and play to our strengths,” he added.

FNB UP-Tuks Young Guns travel to Johannesburg where they will face FNB Wits Young Guns at the Wits Rugby Stadium on Monday, 13 February. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:15.
