The FNB Varsity Cup Presented by Steinhoff International has now seen Wits University turn into a rather happy place, after FNB Wits have managed to get a couple wins under their belt. That however is not the only reason, the Witsies have been filled with much excitement.
The search for the next FNB Wits Miss Varsity Cup got more intense, with the competition heating up.
The 2017 pageant began with a few ladies from FNB Wits campuses, auditioning and being selected for the university’s public to decide through voting on social media, to decide who would represent FNB Wits in the competition that will later feature winners from other universities competing in the Varsity Cup.
A top 10 was formed eventually to narrow down the contestants, which featured Margarita Ololenco, Karabo Malowa, Palesa Lombaard, Lutho Zono, Boitumelo Makgoba, Brione Brian, Thembelithle Bila, Rhode-Louise Potgieter, Tumi Pitswane and Rhaheema, whose names were put up for more voting.
The game between FNB Wits and FNB Madibas then saw a lot of excitement at the interval, as the list of the top five women candidates was announced. Lutho Zono, Thembelithle Bila, Palesa Lombaard, Tumi Pitswane and Rhodè-Louise Potgieter were the fortunate ones on the night.
The pageant will now see the ladies compete for the top three positions, with the winner going on to represent FNB Wits at the national pageant, with the opportunity of being crowned Miss Varsity Cup for 2017.
This competition goes to show that Varsity Cup isn’t just for the ‘rugger buggers’ but for the ladies as well. The Varsity Cup competition further features many initiatives that raise awareness for the fight against women abuse.
To get involved in the voting process for Miss Wits Varsity Cup, log onto the ‘Miss Wits Varsity Cup’ page on Facebook and simply like and share your favourite contestant. The top 3 will be announced at FNB Wits’ next home game against the FNB Ikeys on Monday 27 March.
