FNB UFH continued their impressive 2017 season with a 28-16 victory over FNB TUT in Alice on Monday evening.

The game that was poised to be a cracker sure lived up to the hype, with the home team running the show for the first half. The men from Alice came out guns blazing, and the supporters made it known that their efforts were appreciated.

First blood was drawn by Sibongile Novuka from FNB UFH, and converted by flyhalf Jeandre Christian. The men from Tshwane tried wave after wave of attack, but it was to no avail as FNB UFH were water-tight on their defence. The FNB UFH flyhalf closed out the first half as he scored and converted his own try to put the scores at FNB UFH 16-0 FNB TUT heading into the tunnel.

The second half was spot on the money, with the men from Alice looking at sealing the victory, and going one step closer to a possible home semi-final. It was the golden boot of Jeandre Christian that extended the lead with two converted penalties as he made it a 20-point lead over FNB TUT. But FNB TUT weren’t leaving Alice without a fight. FNB TUT scored two quick tries by Tshepo Nyathi and Arno Brits and converted by Shawn Jaards. Just when the fans thought the game was over FNB UFH scored a try through Athenkosi Makeleni.

The men from Alice secured a vital win at home and one last battle remains before the semi-final matches.
Final score, FNB UFH 28-16 FNB TUT.
