Steinhoff Buffalo took an early lead on the CUT Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby log, with a convincing win over Steinhoff Eagles in the first round of the 2017 Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby League. They ran in three tries to zero, leading 8-6 at the break. The final score was 20-6.

Steinhoff Falcons issued a stern warning to other title hopefuls, by surprising the lacklustre Steinhoff Rhinos by 22-18 in a tense matchup. Steinhoff Rhinos led 11-10 at the turnaround, but Steinhoff Falcons scored three tries to the two of the Steinhoff Rhinos.

Steinhoff Lions and Steinhoff Tigers drew a thrilling encounter by 13-13, after the Steinhoff Lions led 10-3 at half time, both sides scoring one try each.

Four teams remain unbeaten after Round One of the league, with the Steinhoff Buffalo leading the pack with a better points aggregate.
