The Steinhoff Chriopractors from the University of Johannesburg launched their Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby season at the UJ Rugby club on Wednesday, and the ‘Doctors’ as they are also known, are ready to cut apart any team in their path.

Steinhoff Chiropractors (Doctors) brought back the glory days by reclaiming their throne and overcoming rivals Steinhoff Oppierif winning the title in 2016, and now have earned themselves a prestigious opportunity to showcase their talents in the 2017 Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby league.

“We started off as underdogs in our koshuis league, and we pulled up a bit of an upset, we came a long way and the team chemistry with the boys is a ball-of-flame type of chemistry, like any other residence of brother,” said coach Louis Jooste.

The launch which was held at the UJ Rugby clubhouse in Johannesburg was attended by the players, coaches and residents of the ‘Chiros’ res and the side wanted to prove their worth and gun for glory in the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Championship. In attendance was FNB UJ head coach Werner Janse Van Rensburg, who gave the boys advice about giving it their all and appreciating the platform of Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby as a domain to showcase their talents and grooming the young players for glory.

Steinhoff Chiropractors take on Steinhoff Harlequins (Madibaz) in their first match of the season at the Madibaz Stadium in Port Elizabeth on the 6th of March 2017.

“Preparation is going good, we started off in early December, we lost a few players, but we are like poking good,” the coach said.

“My ambitions as captain of the team is to reach the final and win it, and as the captain to just go out there and have some serious fun,” said captain Armand Kriel. The captain also acknowledged the team for their preparation for their clash against Steinhoff Harlequins and commented on the team’s passion going into this competition.

Ajee Valentine of Steinhoff International urged the players to make a mark for the university and for themselves, and to prove themselves in striving for excellence in the game of rugby. The launch concluded with the Steinhoff Chiropractors meeting and greeting some of the Young Guns squad and preparing for the challenge and opportunities at hand.
