Steinhoff Helderberg of Maties scored a comfortable 53-31 win against Steinhoff Rhinos in Bloemfontein on Monday. The visitors led 32-21 at the break.
The match was a try fest with both teams crossing the tryline 12 times, of which the victors scored seven.
The Steinhoff Rhinos worried the visitors in the first 10 minutes, scoring two opening tries to lead 16-0 before Steinhoff Helderberg had any score on the board. The visitors, though, fought back like true champions running in their first four tries in no time.
For Steinhoff Helderberg, flanker Jan-Hendrik Hannekom was the player that rocks, scoring the final try of the match with two minutes to go.
Centre Henri du Toit converted six of the tries and scored two tries of his own. For the Steinhoff Rhinos scrumhalf JP Le Roux, Danie Muller and wing Chad de Koker were prominent.
Steinhoff Helderberg were ultimately let down by their goal difference, finishing on 10 points, but behind Steinhoff Sonop and Steinhoff Patria on goal difference.
