After a hard and physical group stage, as well as two massive semi-final clashes, Steinhoff Huis Marais and Steinhoff Eendrag will go head to head on Friday evening in the 2017 Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Championship at the iconic Danie Craven Stadium.
This will be the third final in a row for Steinhoff Huis Marais and they will be hoping for third time lucky following defeats against Steinhoff Dagbreek and Steinhoff Helderberg in the 2015 and 2016 finals respectively.
For Steinhoff Eendrag, on the other hand, this will be their first final since 2014, where they lost against Steinhoff Medies who dominated the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Championship in Stellenbosch at the stage. In 2015 Steinhoff Eendrag narrowly missed out on a place in the final following an 8-5 defeat to Steinhoff Dagbreek, while last year was a rather forgettable year for them, where they failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Steinhoff Huis Marais had to overcome Steinhoff Elsenburg in the one semi-final last Friday night, winning the encounter 25-17. Steinhoff Huis Marais finished second on the overall log, with Steinhoff Elsenburg in third. The men from the farm had an incredible season and was it a special occasion for them make the playoff. Steinhoff Huis Marais, however have a good record in semi-finals, but suffered on the big stage in recent years. They will be hoping to overcome that on Friday night to claim it on the third chance.
Steinhoff Eendrag had to work hard to qualify for a spot in the semi-final and in the end just made it to fourth spot, but that chance was more than enough for them as they put in a massive performance to upset Steinhoff Dagbreek 24-7. This was a big result for Steinhoff Eendrag, especially for the fact that Steinhoff Dagbreek didn’t lose a single match in the group stages and they will be hoping for another good performance like that come Friday.
The match kicks off at 20:30
