The final of this year’s NWU Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby League will see Steinhoff Caput and Steinhoff Patria square off for the rights to lift the trophy.
Both of these teams didn’t have everything going their way in the semi-finals, but showed great characther to turn deficits into wins.
Steinhoff Caput shocked the number one team on the log when they snatched a 22-21 victory at the death from Steinhoff Over de Voor to book their first ever place in the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby League final.
Steinhoff Caput had to show a lot of composure as a penalty kick for posts was calmly slotted to hand them a the victory.
In the other semi-final, Steinhoff Patria had their backs against the wall in the first half against Steinhoff Veritas but managed to come out victorius by 20-12.
Steinhoff Veritas held a tight lead of 9-3 at half-time, but couldn’t hold on to it.
In the second half things changed as Steinhoff Patria started to take control of the game with Steinhoff Veritas struggling to keep their defensive game tight which allowed Steinhoff Patria to capitalise on their errors.
Steinhoff Patria missed a few opportunities due to handling errors but managed to stay calm and collected with only one goal in front of them. As the final whistle blew in the favour of Steinhoff Patria they walked into yet another NWU final..
The stage will be set for a massive final as they will face each other on 6 September at the Fanie du Toit Sport Grounds in Potchefstroom.
