Steinhoff CUT Rhinos launched their 2017 Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby season in traditional fashion with a braai at the CUT cricket clubhouse on campus.
Mr Ajee Valentine representing the primary Koshuis Rugby sponsor, Steinhoff International, asked the players to enjoy every moment of their journey in varsity rugby.
“Nothing lasts forever; make the most of every moment and build your memories while you have the privilege to play rugby at this level,” said Valentine.
The Steinhoff Rhinos will kick off their 2017 campaign against Steinhoff Patria (Pukke) in Potchefstroom next Monday. In 2016 they ended fifth on the table, which meant that they were the last team to qualify for the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Championships, the top division for the 2017 season.
Qualification is an achievement in itself, but the team will look to move up the log in the upcoming season. Experienced prop, Lambert Rautenbach, was announced as the Steinhoff Rhinos captain for the campaign.
Official Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby T-shirts were handed to the group, followed by a traditional braai and informal gathering, where students and management shared their hopes for a successful campaign.
