FNB Wits hosted the launch of the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby Premiership season on Tuesday evening at the Wits Rugby clubhouse.

The evening saw a number of the Steinhoff Koshuis teams provided with their new kits, ahead of the commencement of the new season later in the year.

Amongst the jersey handouts and speeches, a lot of praise was heaped upon their 2016 Steinhoff Koshuis champions, Steinhoff Titans. The Steinhoff Titans kick off their season on Monday, when they travel to the Cape, to lock horns with Steinhoff Cobras at the Green Mile.

When asked about the team’s preparation ahead of the tournament, Steinhoff Titans captain Chris Worthington had this to say: “To be honest, we haven’t done much training but we’ve tried to get a couple of sessions going but a lot of the boys have started studying hard, so we’re about three or four sessions in but everyone is good in the camp and we’re in a good space and really looking forward to the start of the competition.”

Worthington further added that he feels the team is ready to get the first-ever win for a FNB Wits Steinhoff Koshuis team in the competition’s history.

“I think this year we’re really going to have a go, we’ve got a really strong team coming through. A lot of the guys are young with a mix of experience. Some of the older guys have some experience through playing for the Wits club. So we’re definitely looking to target the Cobras as the first big one for us, and from there we’ll take it on and see each game as it goes.”

In a night to remember, Chris Worthington also won the R1000 cash prize of the evening, after his number was picked in the draw.
