UCT’s Steinhoff Cobras flex their muscles

In a display of dominance, Steinhoff Cobras reminded everyone why they are both reigning champions and undefeated since 2015. They managed to put five tries past Steinhoff Turtles, and remain level on points with Steinhoff Nadoes after two games played.

Steinhoff CVU Vikings continued their impressive start to the season as they trumped Steinhoff Leo Marquard 34-0 to make it three wins in just as many matches, allowing them to claim top spot on the log heading into the next round of fixtures.

Steinhoff Knights failed to hold on to their spot at the top of the table as they fell short against Steinhoff Nadoes, going down 17-10 but remaining in second place after having played one game more than both Steinhoff Cobras and Steinhoff Nadoes.

Steinhoff Smuts managed to get their first win of the season as they took on a struggling Steinhoff Kopano side. The matched ended 20-12 in Steinhoff Smuts’ favour, leaving Steinhoff Kopano with no points after three games played.

Bottom sides seek their first win

In the first match of the day, Steinhoff Cobras will look to keep asserting their dominance when they take on a Steinhoff Smuts side that will undoubtedly be buoyed after picking up their first win last week.

At the same time, Steinhoff Turtles are set to face off against Steinhoff Ubombo in the hopes of leapfrogging them and keeping pace with the teams in and around the top four.

Steinhoff Kopano and Steinhoff Saints, who are both winless going into week four, find themselves in a situation where at least one of them will pick up their first points of the season. Although it is still quite early in the season, this match can already be considered as a must-win for both sides.

In the final match of the day, Steinhoff Nadoes will get a run at current league leaders Steinhoff CVU Vikings. Much like Steinhoff Knights in the previous round of fixtures, Steinhoff CVU Vikings have the opportunity to assert themselves as real contenders this season, and a win against Steinhoff Nadoes would make their intentions explicitly clear.
