UFH’s Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby League three rounds away from crowning a champion

With the rugby season coming to an end for the Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby teams, three games remain before one team is crowned UFH Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby champion for the 2017 season. But before that happens UFH’s invitation side has pulled out of the top-eight play-offs as they are getting ready for the president’s cup and the annual Intervarsity Games, hosted by the University of Fort Hare.

So after a packed season it has all come down to the last three rounds, with Steinhoff Newtown Blues being favourites to win after Steinhoff UFH Invitation pulled out. One really wonders, can last year’s champions Steinhoff Ntselamanzi United rise from the ashes to win it yet again? Will we see old scars re-opened and old scores settled, or will it the currently unbeaten Steinhoff Red Lion that will keep the winning streak to take the trophy and be crowned champions?

What has happened during the season matters no more. One win come Wednesday’s fixture, will help teams to earn a place in the semi-final and one match closer to the gold. Preparations have been under way as teams were given a week’s break before the knock-out starts, with the UFH Blues also nearing the off-season, head coaches Carlos Katywa and Lumumba Currie will be in the front seats so see if there are any potential prospects that they can pick for the senior team.

Be sure not to miss a thing, come join us on National Women’s day as the top teams lock horns as we celebrate Women’s Day the best way we know how.

The format of the top eight is as follows: teams were invited in, and all managers agreed that managers must pull a name from a hat and a fixture be drawn from that.

For the teams that did not make it in the top eight, that’s a wrap for them thus season, with some being relieved that it all came to an end.
