FNB CUT Makes a Lasting Impact Through Varsity Cup’s ShowUs Initiative

The Central University of Technology (CUT) has stepped up in a big way as part of the FNB Varsity Cup ShowUs initiative, choosing to support the Pontem Developmental Centre, a facility dedicated to assisting children with neuro-developmental challenges. Through their generous contribution, CUT is helping to create a more inclusive, stimulating environment where young learners can thrive.
Pontem Developmental Centre caters to children with ADHD, ADD, anxiety, autism, speech delays, and low muscle tone, providing them with specialized care and support tailored to their unique needs. Thanks to CUT’s involvement, the centre has been able to upgrade its playground, install therapy swings, and acquire remedial resources that will enhance learning and development for its students.
For CUT, this initiative is about more than just a donation—it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of young people. By investing in Pontem, the university is ensuring that children who require additional support have access to the resources they need to build confidence, develop key skills, and feel empowered in their learning journey.
“The generosity shown by CUT has truly transformed our space,” said a representative from Pontem. “These new additions will allow us to provide even better support for our learners, making their daily experiences more engaging and beneficial.”
The ShowUs initiative demonstrates how Varsity Cup is about more than just rugby—it’s about changing lives. By encouraging universities to actively participate in community upliftment, the campaign is fostering a culture of giving back and creating meaningful social impact. CUT’s involvement is a perfect example of how student communities can use their platforms to support causes that extend far beyond campus.
With projects like this, Varsity Cup continues to showcase the power of sport in uniting communities and making a real difference. CUT’s commitment to inclusivity, education, and social responsibility is not just inspiring—it’s setting the standard for what student-driven change can achieve.
