After tomorrow’s matches, there are only three rounds left in the 2023 FNB Varsity Shield that’ll determine the top four teams to contest the semi-finals. Just three points separate the top three teams and there is a lot to play for.
The Cape Town derby between FNB CPUT and FNB UWC is undoubtedly the pick of the action tomorrow. They are the only two unbeaten teams this year with UWC at the top of the log courtesy of a bonus point.
Occupying the third spot on the log, FNB Madibaz is up against FNB Rhodes in Makhanda. The men from Gqeberha have collected five bonus points, the most so far, while Rhodes is languishing at the bottom of the log on zero points.
Defending champions FNB UFH travels to Durban to face FNB UKZN. After a slow start in 2023, they will be keen to stake their claim for a playoff spot against a team below them on the log.
It is an away game in Mdantsane for FNB TUT against FNB WSU. The Pretoria-based team have a semi-final berth in sight while WSU has yet to win a game.
