With FNB UWC the only unbeaten team in the 2023 FNB Varsity Shield and virtually secured of a home semi-final in a couple of weeks, the fight is on between four teams for the remaining three spots.
Log leaders FNB UWC are hosting FNB UKZN in Cape Town and will want to make it six in a row in their march to the playoffs. UKZN on the other hand have only won once.
An interesting match-up awaits between Eastern Cape rivals FNB Madibaz and defending champions FNB UFH. Madibaz is currently second on the log while UFH occupies the fourth spot and must win to stay in contention.
FNB TUT would want to upset the applecart against FNB CPUT in Pretoria. A victory by 5th-placed TUT over 3rd-placed CPUT will keep their semi-final hopes alive.
Pride is on offer when FNB Rhodes and FNB WSU take to the field in Makhanda as both are at the bottom of the log. The home team is still looking for a victory while the visitors have only managed one win in 2023.
